Author Simon Sinek talks about how some businesses struggle because they treat business as if it is a finite game rather than an infinite game. Finite games end whereas infinite games do not. I thought about this in reference to health and I realized that many people who struggle with their health do so because they also treat it as a finite game.
Huh?
Lots of people play to get healthy but not to stay healthy. To get to a certain point is easy, that end goal is the finite game. The infinite game is maintaining that health. Let’s look at weight loss. Anyone can do drastic changes that will cause quick weight loss but how many can keep it off? Finite health choices involve drastic moves that are unsustainable in the long term. Infinite health choices involve multiple lifestyle changes that are more moderate in nature.
The difficulty in maintaining infinite health is that we think we have to live perfect but that is not the case! Look, if Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are still alive then obviously our body can take quite a beating 🙂 The idea is to tackle life moderately. Finding a 90/10 or 80/20 balance will be more sustainable than being perfect or extremely restrictive. Find habits that are health promoting and stick with them.
Remember you won’t always be at optimal weight or peak health. There are naturally going to be ebbs and flows. The key is to be balanced and have positive outlook.
This month we have had over 65 people do the Standard Process Detox. I am so proud of all of you who participated and excited for the many more who are preparing for the 10 day reset. It is a nice way to jump start your behaviors into an INFINITE mind set. Now its time to make the small, daily, habitual changes that will help you stay healthy!
It reminds me of a saying I once saw; Happiness isn’t a destination but a way of traveling. Ditto goes for HEALTH.
