Last week I walked into the treatment room and asked the patient how she was doing. She answered honestly and said, “Well…not so good.” The funny thing is when I ask a patient how they are doing and they start with “Well” they are rarely well!
The truth is, when I walked into the room I already knew she wasn’t well. The energy in a room is palpable once you pay attention to it and most of the time I can tell how a patient is doing based on that and a little body language.
This gal has a lot going for her but she was in a funk and was almost looking for ways to kick herself when she was down. So I gave her a copy of the affirmation that I do every morning on the way to work (affirmations are statements that basically change the momentum in your life.) Yup the big MO. When your life seems to be going out of control in your mind, body or spirit you need to change the big MO.
Momentum
When coming up with your affirmation, the best thing to do is focus on what little things you are grateful for and building the MOMENTUM another direction.
According to an old proverb, “If you never learn the language of gratitude, you’ll never be on speaking terms with happiness.”
Be mindful of gratitude and you will have a mind full of happiness.
Our herb of the week is Ashwagandha. I can go on and on about this herbal tonic but to state it simply: it is a wellbeing herb. It is an adaptogen which means it has the ability to help turn you up when you are low OR turn you down when you are high. Let me know if you have any questions about this supplement.
